Whenever I hear anything mentioned about inspirational teachers, I automatically think of Mr Mudie. Mr Mudie was my Year 5 teacher in 1974 who showed me that every child was worthy of his attention. I remember him showing me how to conduct the class in singing the Australian National Anthem using my right arm and making a repeated right angle motion.

He also helped me to stop biting my fingernails because he said that the nail would go into my appendix and cause appendicitis. Sometimes it is the little things that you remember most. I loved going to school that year. My confidence really grew that year, thanks to Mr Mudie.
